Lug Repair
Damaged lugs from drops or wear get rebuilt so you can swap bands without worry.
Lugs are the metal ears that hold your watch strap or bracelet. Over time, they crack, bend, or wear thin from daily wear and strap changes. We rebuild or replace them depending on what makes sense for your watch. If the lug can be saved, we reinforce it. If it's too far gone, we source a matching lug and install it properly.
New York humidity and the constant on-off of straps takes a toll on lugs faster than you'd think. We work with vintage watches, sports models, and dress pieces, so we've seen every lug failure pattern. Our work includes testing the strap attachment under tension to make sure it won't fail again after you leave our bench.
You'll get your watch back with lugs that feel solid and look original to the case. No wobble. No cosmetic Band-Aids. Your strap or bracelet will sit flush and secure, the way the watchmaker intended.
What's included: Inspection and diagnosis of lug condition; Reinforcement or replacement of damaged lug; Strap or bracelet reattachment and tension testing; Polishing to match the case finish; Written estimate before any work begins.
Lug Repair — FAQ
Can you repair a lug or do I need a whole new case?
Most lugs can be repaired. We only recommend case replacement if the lug damage extends into the case body itself. We'll show you photos and give you options.
How long does lug repair take?
Simple reinforcement takes 3 to 5 business days. Lug replacement can take 7 to 10 days depending on sourcing. We'll give you a timeline when you drop it off.
Will the repair be visible?
If we reinforce an existing lug, the work is internal and invisible. If we replace a lug, we match the finish and patina as closely as possible. On vintage watches, a replaced lug may have a slightly different look, but it will be structurally correct.
